Álvaro Porras Soriano (Ciudad Real, 1992) develops his work around the articulation of contextual and historiographic references. His practice focuses on situated cultural narratives, approached through the research and interpretation of their symbolic codes.
He holds a PhD in Art: Production and Research from the Universitat Politècnica de València. He graduated in Fine Arts from the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, where he also completed a Master’s degree in Research in Artistic and Visual Practices. He later obtained a Master’s degree in Contemporary Art History and Visual Culture from the Museo Reina Sofía and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He is currently a lecturer in the Department of Painting at the Universitat Politècnica de València.
He has presented exhibitions at institutions such as IVAM, Museo Reina Sofía, Centro del Carmen, Centro Párraga, La Rambleta, and Centro de Arte La Regenta, as well as at independent spaces and galleries including Algo Algo, Fundación La Posta, Centro Dados Negros, La Casa Azul, LAMOSA, STAIN Projects, and Jorge López Galería, among others. His work is part of collections such as DKV, Colección Kells, MK Collection, Martínez-Lloret, CAAC Cuenca, and Fundación Antonio Pérez, among others.
