Facundo Jesus Lugea

Argentina, 1996

Facundo Jesus Lugea currently lives and works in Palma, Spain. His artistic research explores the human condition as one element within a web of relations that exceeds our scale, both physically and perceptually. By displacing the anthropocentric gaze, he seeks to understand the matter that both constitutes and surrounds us as part of interconnected systems. From there, his projects take up questions of origin, evolution, the limits of the body, death, the relations between the material and the immaterial, and transformation. His multidisciplinary practice spans sculpture, installation, poetry, video, and painting. With materials as the central axis of his research, his projects develop narrative-driven conceptual propositions in which he articulates a poetic dimension through matter and objects, inverting roles, reinterpreting connections, pointing things out, and proposing new regroupings. At the same time, his research process draws on various scientific disciplines, which he uses as fields of observation and thought from which to bring in concepts and empirical data and transform them into a metaphorical and speculative language.

His main solo exhibitions include Pangea infinita (2025) at TACA, Palma de Mallorca, Spain; *Memories from the Future *(2024) at Form At, Amsterdam, the Netherlands; La prolongación de nuestra inercia (2022) at the Museo MAR, Mar del Plata, Argentina; Ciclos activos de constantes expiaciones (2021) at Night Time Story, Los Angeles, USA; and Agua en mis manos (2016) at Galería Leputit, Mar del Plata, Argentina. He has also participated in group exhibitions, among them Montañas invisibles (2023) at MACBA Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2021 he received the Provincial Young Arts Award (Premio Provincial de Artes Jóvenes) from the Pettoruti Museum, Argentina, and the Creation Grant (Beca de Creación) from the Fondo Nacional de las Artes (Argentina’s National Arts Fund) to develop a self-publishing (“Autoedición”) project. Previously, he was a fellow of the “Fronteras Suspendidas” (“Suspended Borders”) program at the Museo MAR, Argentina (2017), and took part in G.R.A.P.A., a group for reflection and analysis of artistic production (2015–2017).
