Opening Melting Ice

13.03.26

On March 13, the opening of the group exhibition Melting Ice took place at BALAZSI, marking the launch of a compelling project that brings together a diverse range of contemporary artistic practices. Curated by Esmeralda Gómez Galera, the exhibition reflects on ideas of transformation, fragility, and the shifting conditions of both natural and social environments, inviting viewers to consider the metaphorical and literal implications of “melting” in today’s context.

The exhibition features the work of six artists: Natalia Domínguez, Vera Mota, Claudia Pastomás, Álvaro Porras, Sasha Saari, and Thom Trojanowski. Each of them contributes a distinct approach, resulting in a rich and multifaceted dialogue within the space. Through different media, including installation, performance, and visual art, the exhibition highlights both individual perspectives and shared concerns, creating a cohesive yet dynamic narrative. A key moment during the opening was the presentation of Roer II (2026), a live performance by Vera Mota.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who joined us and contributed to making the opening such a memorable occasion.

Melting Ice will remain on view until May 29.
