Ben Westoby is a British artist who lives and works in London. He studied Photography at the University of Brighton and received his MA in Fine Art (Photography) from the Royal College of Art in 2015.
His practice combines wall-based sculpture and painting. The sculptures are made from wooden battens arranged to catch and reflect light, and many are shown as near-identical “doubles” that invite close comparison. His paintings are built from repeated triangular marks that form op-art-like patterns, often including a smiley motif that links simple emotion with digital language.
He held his first solo exhibition, Brothers, at Xxijra Hii, London, in 2022. His group exhibitions include Tube Gallery, Palma de Mallorca (2023), and Contemporary Sculpture Fulmer, UK (2023). He also works as a photographer of contemporary art exhibitions.
