Patrick Goddard

Patrick Goddard is an artist whose politically loaded and narrative-based practice — spanning video, sculpture, installation, photography, painting and drawing — charts his own fumbled attempts to generate personal and political integrity, underpinned by a self-defeating black comedy. His work moves across ecology, the Anthropocene and the animal, alongside race politics, gentrification and urbanisation.
He holds an MFA from Goldsmiths University (2011) and a doctorate from Oxford University (2019).
Recent solo exhibitions include Home Invasion (Seventeen, London, 2024), Essaims, Hordes, Fléaux (MABA, Nogent-sur-Marne, 2024), Pedigree (Seventeen, London, 2022) and Die Biester (E-Werk, Freiburg, 2021). His work has been included in A Cage Named Garden at Tate Modern, London (2024), The London Open and Nocturnal Creatures at the Whitechapel Gallery (2022), and in British Art Show 9, the landmark Hayward Gallery Touring exhibition across Aberdeen, Manchester and Plymouth (2021–2022).
He has presented work at Frieze London (2024, 2023, 2020, 2019) and NADA Miami (2024) with Seventeen, as well as a solo presentation at Paris+ par Art Basel (2022). His work is held in the collection of the Rubell Museum, Miami.
