Patrick Goddard

London, 1984

Patrick Goddard is a British artist whose practice spans video, sculpture and installation, alongside photography, painting and drawing. His work operates in the space between political urgency and self-defeating black comedy — narratives that chart earnest attempts at personal and moral integrity, only to unravel them in the process. The result is a body of work that is as critical as it is darkly funny.

Goddard's concerns range widely: ecology, the Anthropocene and the uneasy relationship between the human and the animal sit alongside questions of race politics, gentrification and the ongoing transformation of urban life. These threads run through a practice that resists easy resolution, favouring ambiguity and contradiction over tidy conclusions.
